This year's annual fundraising competition to support Georgia’s regional food banks opened April 14 and will run until April 25, 2025. The initiative is inclusive of the legal community such as law firms, legal organizations, corporate or in-house counsel, clerks, and judges. Each dollar raised will directly aid the regional food bank in the participant's community, providing up to four meals for those in need per dollar donated.

Registration is open now and continues until the competition concludes on April 25. Interested participants can register by visiting www.galegalfoodfrenzy.org.

“We know that time is a lawyer’s most valuable asset, and what better way to dedicate our time than to fighting hunger and supporting our state’s regional food banks,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. He encouraged attorneys to donate the equivalent of one billable hour to help provide meals to those most in need.

Nearly one in eight children in Georgia face hunger, and over 60 percent of the state’s public school students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals each day. Contributions to the Legal Food Frenzy help food banks prepare for the summer surge in demand after school ends.

“Each year, I’m inspired by the legal community’s dedication to ensuring no Georgian goes hungry,” stated Danah Craft, Executive Director of Feeding Georgia. The legal community’s support is crucial in reaching more children, seniors, and families during times of need.

The Legal Food Frenzy is led by young lawyers who promote the competition statewide. The 2025 initiative is directed by the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Legal Food Frenzy Co-Chairs Brittanie Browning, Ashley Akins, and Caroline Scalf, alongside regional representatives.

“The Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia is honored to support the annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy,” said YLD Immediate Past President Brittanie Browning. She emphasized the importance of raising funds to fight hunger and improve the quality of legal services in Georgia. She encouraged every lawyer in Georgia to participate in these efforts against food insecurity.
