The “School’s Open, Drive Carefully” Back to School Tour came to an end in Fulton County. Remember these tips to help keep our children safe while traveling to and from school:
• Always stop for school buses that have their stop arm extended if you are traveling the same direction as the bus. If you are traveling the opposite way of the school bus but there is NOT a physical divider in the road, you still MUST stop.
• Keep the phones down and out of reach when behind the wheel, especially in school zones.
• Leave earlier to accommodate for school bus traffic. Speeding through school zones will only end in tragedy.
•Lastly, be patient while school bus drivers and students are getting back into the swing of things on the road. Also remember that some teens have just gotten their license this summer and this is their first time driving to school. Be polite and drive cautiously.
GOHS would like to thank all of our partners that made this tour a success, thank you Fulton County Schools for your commitment to highway safety and we look forward to a great school year for our students.
