Tri-Cities High School Athletic Director Kenneth Miller, who was caught on video grabbing a student, has earned support from members of the community who say his actions saved lives.

Supporters recently convened at a church near the school to show support for Miller, who faces what could be a 20-day suspension after finding two guns on campus in August, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

"From the start of this I've always said that God is in control," Miller told Fox 5 Atlanta. "So, every day my strength comes from my God."

The incident occurred after Miller was asked by the principal to investigate based on information that students may have been in possession of guns on school grounds, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Eyewitness reports and body camera footage from that day showed that one girl had acted with aggression toward Miller, with things becoming physical as she is seen knocking Miller's phone out of his hands. At that point, Miller grabbed the girl in fear of his own well-being.

A loaded gun was found in that student's bag following the altercation, and another gun was found at the school that same day, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

While Miller has been off campus on paid administrative leave since September, many in the community are fighting for him, and he is being represented by an attorney, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. An oral argument regarding the suspension will take place at the Fulton County School District's office on Wednesday.
