The Atlanta Hawks recently teamed with Clorox to honor nine Atlanta Public School (APS) teachers for their service during the 2021-22 school year.
The nine teachers received over $10,000 worth of products and support donated by the two partners, the Hawks reported in a release.
"On behalf of APS, I would like to thank Clorox and the Hawks for continuing their support of our teachers and schools selecting our teachers through the Year of the Teacher initiative," APS Superintendent Lisa Herring said in the release. "To have these two great organizations acknowledge, celebrate and champion the hard work and dedication of our teachers was a wonderful honor for APS. Congratulations to our teachers and thank you to Clorox and the Hawks for this outstanding recognition opportunity!"
Nominations were accepted from the public over a five-month period that began in November, the Hawks reported. A panel then picked teachers from these nominations to receive the awards. The prizes included Clorox products, Hawks tickets, recognition during Hawks games and gift cards for $500 toward school supplies.
Last year, Clorox joined the Hawks in an official multiyear partnership, the Hawks reported. Clorox and the Hawks also donated $100,000 to APS in September 2021, as well as $10,000 worth of Clorox wipes.
