Georgia Tech baseball coach Donny Hall earlier this month announced that his program has added five transfer players to the roster with the hopes they would provide the Yellow Jackets with depth.
"Georgia Tech baseball has officially added five transfers to its roster this summer, further bolstering its roster depth,” Hall said in a school-issued press release.
The quintet of new Yellow Jackets includes infielders Tim Borden II (Louisville), Brandon Prince (Georgia Highlands) and Chandler Simpson (UAB), right-handed hurler Cole McNamee (Wake Forest), and catcher Jack Rubenstein (Emory), according to the release.
Borden, a 2020 Collegiate Baseball freshman all-American, batted .220 with three doubles and five RBI last season for the Cardinals. A native of Sellersburg, Indiana., he lettered at Our Lady of Providence High School, winning a state championship.
McNamee was a utility player for three years at Wake Forest. Pitching for the Demon Deacons, the Milton, Georgia., native took the bump 51 times.
McNamee’s prep career at Blessed Trinity Catholic was highlighted by four straight state appearances, two of those resulting in titles.
Prince crafted a .321 batting average during his time at Georgia Highlands. Last season for the Chargers, the Carrollton product stole 40 bases to break the school’s all-time record.
Rubenstein represented Emory on the 2020 all-University Athletic Association team thanks to a .380 batting average.
Simpson landed on the Conference USA all-freshmen team at UAB. He was the Blazers’ stolen bases leader with 24 bags seized.
As of this writing, the Yellow Jackets were 1-0 in fall action following an 11-7 victory over Troy.
