A recent analysis showed that the number of Fulton County households in arrears has gone down slightly since the month of July.
An analysis by nonprofit organization Surgo Ventures showed that for the month of August an estimated 34,045 of Fulton County rental households were behind on paying rents, according to Patch. These numbers are down slightly from the month of July when an estimated 34,462 households were behind on rent.
The numbers show that delinquent Fulton County households collectively owe $142,881,378 in back rent as of early August, and that more than one out of every ten Fulton County rental households are in arrears.
About $1.7 billion in emergency rental aid (ERA) was disbursed to needy residents in July, but it hasn't had much of an effect on rental arrear rates.
"ERA programs are up and running for the large part, but they are slow to get money into the hands of renters," Surgo Ventures senior research scientist Aaron Dibner-Dunlap told Patch.
Approximately 6.3 million rental households nationwide are in arrears and face potential eviction in the near future. Roughly 20% percent of Georgia renters are in arrears.
