From February 11,  2023 post.

Heart Disease is a leading cause of death in the United States. It affects both men and women of all backgrounds, so knowing the risks can help us protect ourselves, stay healthy and reduce the risk of developing heart disease.

Some of the leading risk factors include:

High blood pressure

High cholesterol

Smoking

Diabetes

Overweight or obesity

Family history of cardiovascular disease

Poor dietary habits

No regular physical activity

Chronic kidney disease

Chronic inflammatory conditions

Metabolic Syndrome

The risk of heart disease also increases with age, especially women 55 and over and men 45 and over.
