Firefighter Friday: Introducing you to the men and women of Alpharetta Fire.
Meet Sergeant Ryan Griffin. Recently promoted to the position of Sergeant (formerly known as Fire Apparatus Engineer), Ryan has been with the Alpharetta Fire Department for 5 and a half years. Prior to Alpharetta, Sergeant Griffin spent the first part of his now 12 year fire career with both the Fayette County Fire Department and the Gwinnett County Fire Department. Since landing in Alpharetta, Ryan says that one thing that really makes working for the city special is that you get to know everyone. He says he really likes the family feeling you get within the department, its something you don’t really get to fully experience at a big department.
Sergeant Griffin is a third generation firefighter, filling the boots left by his grandfather, his father and his uncle, as well as his cousin who also works for Alpharetta. He’ll tell you that he practically grew up in a fire house. As a child he would spend as much time at the station with his dad that he could, and his love for the fire station turned into a career in the fire service. Twelve years into his career and he says that the best part is still never fully knowing what the day will bring. In addition to being a firefighter, Griffin is trained as a paramedic allowing him to fill multiple roles as he serves the city of Alpharetta. All of the hard work he has put in to building his career has paid off with his recent promotion to sergeant, which has been a standout moment in his career so far.
Ryan lives in North Georgia with his wife and two amazing kids.
