The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office’s Crime Suppression Scorpion Unit, assisted the Atlanta Police Department in an operation focusing on violent gang offenders on September 28th. During the operation, the FCSO Scorpion Unit arrested a known gang member, wanted on probation violation. While in the area of Fairburn Rd. and Martin Luther King Jr. Rd., members of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office’s Scorpion Unit were conducting field interviews on two known gang members, when one, John Gates, took off running. Investigators engaged in a short foot pursuit, quickly apprehending Gates.
John Gates, 21, was wanted on probation violation out of Fulton County on the following charges: Two counts of Aggravated Assault with Intent to Rob, Armed Robbery, Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Gates was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
