After her son, Jonathan Denham, was killed when the car he was driving was hit by a suspect fleeing from Fulton County police, Sara Acree is speaking out about the incident.
In a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Acree said her son was on his way home from one of his friends’ houses at the time of the accident.
"The guy that they were chasing didn’t have his lights on, and he hit my son, and my son died on impact," Acree told FOX 5 Atlanta.
Georgia State Patrol did not identify the suspect, adding that the man fled from Cobb County police during a traffic stop at around midnight Friday on Interstate 285 near the Cascade Road exit, FOX 5 reports.
According to the report, Cobb County Police are still investigating the matter, and are attempting to reconstruct the scene.
Acree said her son had a big sense of humor, adding that the death of her eldest son has left a hole in her heart.
It’s not clear why the Cobb County Police Department was involved in the pursuit, which began and ended in Fulton County, miles out of its jurisdiction, FOX 5 reports. Officials said the suspect was wanted for fleeing from a previous traffic stop.
