After the Supreme Court moved this summer to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision and effectively dismantle the constitutional right to abortion, the number of men electing to have vasectomies has seen an uptick across the country.
In a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Georgia father Brad Slayton said he decided to undergo the surgical sterilization procedure after deciding the four children they already have was enough.
"I knew, and my wife knew: no more kids," Slayton told FOX 5 Atlanta. “...I have two kids from a previous marriage, and she has two kids from a previous marriage, and we were getting ready for our wedding. It was kind of like, 'Four is good; we don't want five.’”

Since a draft of the Supreme Court decision was leaked in May, FOX 5 reports Google has also reported a 99% jump in users searching for the term "vasectomy" and a 250% jump in questions about how effective the procedure is.
The increase in interest in the procedure isn’t just noticeable in search trends. Georgia Urology's Dr. Shaya Taghechian told FOX 5 Atlanta her business has seen a similar rise in calls about vasectomies since the Court announced its decision with vasectomy consults, doubling to around 30 a day.
The surgical sterilization procedure typically takes about 15-20 minutes to perform and according to Planned Parenthood has an average cost about $1,000.
