Gov. Brian Kemp is set to appear before the Fulton County grand jury, which is investigating whether former President Donald Trump and others attempted to interfere with the results of the 2020 general election in Georgia, a FOX 5 Atlanta report said this week.

Kemp will testify via video on Monday, giving his take on what happened in the wake of the 2020 election, the report said.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis started her investigation last year as a special grand jury with subpoena power was seated at her request in May, the report said. At that time, she outlined plans for her team to look into “any coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections in this state.”

FOX 5 reported that Willis has confirmed her team is looking into a January 2021 phone call in which then-President Trump directly urged Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to throw out what Trump considered to be fraudulent votes following his election defeat. Willis said the jury is also looking into a November 2020 phone call between U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Raffensperger, the abrupt resignation of the U.S. attorney in January 2021, and comments made during the December 2020 Georgia legislative committee hearings on the election.

Kemp is the latest high-ranking official to go before the grand jury, joining Georgia House Speaker David Ralston (R-Dist. 7), Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, Raffensperger and his deputy Gabe Sterling, and Kemp's reelection communication director Cody Hall.
