The Prem Rawat Foundation advances dignity, peace, and prosperity by addressing fundamental human needs. One such need is inner peace, and for the first time, two gracious volunteers came into the Fulton County Jail to teach a ten part workshop series to help our 17-year-old inmates discover personal peace. The program gives participants the opportunity to focus and reflect on their own humanity, and their inner resources such as choice, hope, and dignity. Rather than describing or defining personal peace, the program empowers individuals to reach their own understanding. These 17- year-olds face charges ranging from murder, armed robbery, and entering auto. No matter where they ultimately end up, the lessons they learned throughout the series will help them know peace. One young man summed up his main takeaway from the workshop at the graduation ceremony. He said, “peace is found within you. We are locked up, but we’re free mentally.” We are so proud of the progress that these young men made and as a reward following their certificate presentation, the kitchen made them a special lunch and they got to enjoy a visit from @fcsodawndog.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to housing everyone in our care with dignity and to continue to seek opportunities to help inmates leave 901 Rice Street better than when they arrived.
