Medical Assistant Contractor Arrested for Smuggling Contraband

Atlanta, GA - A contracted medical assistant, who attempted to smuggle contraband into the Fulton County Jail has been taken into custody, after nearly a month on the run. TreQuera Lashell Ford was taken into custody without incident in Grenada, Mississippi, following an extensive search, in collaboration with agencies across multiple states.
“Let me be clear, if you attempt to smuggle anything into the Fulton County Jail, you will be caught, and you will be arrested,” said Fulton County Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat. “Our deputies and investigators worked relentlessly to bring this fugitive to justice.”
On May 14, 2022, Ford smelled of marijuana when she reported to work, which drew the attention of a captain at a jail security checkpoint. Ford tried to explain that she had smoked pot in her car before coming to work. Ford panicked and ran, leaving behind a bag containing cocaine, marijuana, cigarettes, and prohibited items. Ford is facing several charges, including Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Crossing Guard Lines with Prohibited Items, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution, or Sale of Marijuana. and Possession of Cocaine.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to smuggling contraband into jail facilities. Those who commit this crime will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
