Gov. Brian Kemp is continuing to ramp up his reelection war chest ahead of the May 24 Republican primary.

Kemp raised $2.7 million during the month of April, which brings his total to $10.7 million, a press release from his campaign said this week, quoted by South Fulton Today.

The funds will be utilized by Kemp for the May 24 Republican primary against former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, a FOX 5 Atlanta news report said this week.

“Our campaign kept our foot on the gas last month, following the Governor’s bold leadership during the most conservative legislative session ever,” campaign manager Bobby Saparow said in the press release. “In the last 26 days of April, Governor Kemp and his family traveled to every corner of the state, delivered historic conservative policy victories, earned resounding victories in three televised debates, and continued to build a large fundraising advantage. The momentum is with our campaign, and we will continue to outwork our competition to secure wins in May and November.”

Kemp raised the funds in 26 days, as he along with other state officials have continued to work, the Fox 5 report said.

Approximately $4.2 million will go toward advertising on television as his campaign nears a showdown with challenger and former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, the report said. Perdue is being backed in the race by former President Trump, who recently held a funding event at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida, where attendees paid a minimum of $3,000.
