Atlanta Academy issued the following announcement on March 4.
During the month of February, students from preschool to 8th grade participated in a door decorating contest for Black History Month. Students chose a Black leader and researched about him or her throughout the month to create a display. The winners were Ms. Guion’s class which featured Harriet Tubman and Ms. Robinson’s class that celebrated Ruby Bridges.
Other doors highlighted Amanda Gorman, Mae Jemison, the mathematicians from Hidden Figures like Dorothy Vaughan, Jackie Robinson, Tyree Guyton, Alma Thomas, Wilma Rudolph, MLK, Erin Jackson, Kid President, and Dr. Charles Drew.
