Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, has been listed as a defendant in a defamation lawsuit filed in the state of Georgia by two election workers.
Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss of Fulton County filed a defamation suit against Giuliani on Dec. 23 regarding false allegations they supplied suitcases of illegal ballots among other acts of election fraud in an effort to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The lawsuit claims that Giuliani, a former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, "continued to publish and amplify the lie" while appearing on One America News Network (OAN), Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The lawsuit also named OAN as a defendant because it continued to accuse Freeman and Moss of election fraud despite Georgia election officials refuting the allegations, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
During the 2020 election, Freeman served as a temporary election worker while Moss, who has worked for Fulton County's elections office since 2012, supervised the absentee ballot process, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The lawsuit asserts that Freeman and Moss experienced "an immediate onslaught of violent and racist threats and harassment" and are now "afraid to live normal lives" as a consequence of the false allegations, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The suit demands punitive damages and a court order mandating the defendants to remove false claims regarding Freeman and Moss from their websites and other media outlets, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
This is the second defamation lawsuit filed by the two election workers in December, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Freeman and Moss filed a lawsuit on Dec. 2 against The Gateway Pundit.
Following his narrow loss in a historically Republican state, Trump concentrated on Georgia, spreading false allegations that extensive fraud resulted in President Joe Biden's victory, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
Trump pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find" votes and specifically mentioned Freeman, referring to her as a "vote scammer, a professional vote scammer, and hustler," Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
