Eight Yellow Jackets earned spots on the all-Atlantic Coast Conference.

According to a Georgia Tech-issued press release, Jahmyr Gibbs made all three all-ACC teams; linebacker Quez Jackson was selected to the second team; and offensive tackle Devin Cochran, linebacker Charlie Thomas and safety Juanyeh Thomas were honorable-mention nods, giving the Yellow Jackets its most appearances since 2014.

"Georgia Tech’s eight all-ACC honors are its most in a single season since 14 Yellow Jackets earned all-conference recognition in 2014,” the university said in the release. “Tech did not earn more than four all-ACC nods in any season from 2015-2020.”

Gibbs, a freshman from Dalton, translated his versatility on the field into 1,805 all-purpose yards in 2021 – which placed him third nationally and second in program history – to become an all-ACC first-team member, the release said.

He’s also the sixth NCAA Division I FBS player in a 20-year span and the first since Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey at Stanford in 2015 to amass at least 700 rushing yards, 450 receiving yards and 550 kickoff return yards in a single season, according to the release.

Gibbs additionally earned second-team all-ACC as a specialist and received a third-team nod as a running back.

Jackson, a junior from Fort Valley, recorded 103 tackles in 2021 to be the first Yellow Jacket since P.J. Davis in 2014 to amass at least 100 tackles in a single season.

Originally a walk-on, Brooks emerged as one of GT’s best defensive weapons, registering 30 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Charlie Thomas provided hard hits for the defense.

Along with three sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two interceptions, the Thomasville native chipped in 70 tackles, three quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble.

Juanyeh Thomas, who hails from Niceville, Fla., served as the leader of the GT secondary and was a two-time ACC Defensive Back of the Week honoree in 2021.

Rounding out the GT all-conference contingent are Cochran and running back Dontae Smith.
